Located adjacent to the Dhoby Ghaut MRT, Dhoby Ghaut Green is an urban park which is located opposite to the Park Mall. It is amazing to see this green (really green and cool) strip of park sandwiched between two main road stretches.
Few days ago when I visited Dhoby Ghaut, I could visit some of the major attractions of Singapore Dhoby Ghaut. This is one of such. If you live in Singapore, you may pass this location daily without noticing any specialty. But, it is like an oasis in the mid of fast moving busy city!
As I found from the Nparks website, Dhoby Ghaut Green is planned as a focal point for cultural and arts activities. It is a place for community activities. Let’s have a photo walk along the park.
The first structure that attracts attention is the open air Amphitheatre which has some amazing views.
Open-air Amphitheatre
The open air amphitheatre is the main focal point of the Dhoby Ghaut Green which also demonstrates the excellence of architectural designs. This open air amphitheatre acts as a venue for public performances. The design of the amphitheater is amazing. There is a performance stage at the lower end of the Amphitheatre
Visual Arts Centre
Visual Arts Centre is located at one side of this park making it a place for art exhibitions, educational workshops and professional art courses. On the day I visited, I could visit the Contemporary 2016 exhibition at the Singapore Visual Arts Centre. That’s a great place to relax and unwind.
The stretch of trees and open fields (west side)
Other than the Amphitheatre and the Visual Arts Centre located at one side of the park, Dhoby Ghaut Green is like an oasis with full of greenery views.
There are huge trees which provide the shade and green for the park visitors. The views of trees are soothing your mind. The feelings are awesome although it is between main roads in both sides. I was there and I didn’t feel that I am in the mid of busy city. Instead I could enjoy the views of huge trees and designs of tree trunk.
The open fields are designed for light recreational sports. It is also a place for other community events.
I found an oasis in the mid of the busy city!
Gravel Area at Dhoby Ghaut Green (East Side)
The Gravel Area at Dhoby Ghaut Green is another spacious land stretch which is also a place for many events. At the day we visited, there were no such events, so we could spent time experiencing the large space and green surrounding which could give us some relaxing time.
At one end, it is a statue of the Singa Lion –The courtesy lion of Singapore. At the other end of the Gravel Area of the Dhoby Ghaut Green, you can find some benches and swings.
What I loved most is the huge trees in this park and the green views. It may not be a major attraction to visit in Singapore. But, it can be a recreation point in a Singapore holiday. If you visit Dhoby Ghaut Singapore, you will probably pass this area of Dhoby Ghaut Green. Just pay some attention and experience the relaxation it can give to your body and mind.
How to get there:
Easiest way to get there is by MRT. The Dhoby Ghaut Green is located adjacent to the MRT.
Nearby attractions:
Istana Park
Visual Arts Centre
Fort Canning Park
House of Tan Yeok Nee (101 Penang Road)

Dhoby Ghaut Green looks very pretty. I love green spaces like this. I live in a big city and I know what a difference they make in the lives of people who are surrounded by concrete all day long. I never visited Singapore, but I would imagine people there appreciate this huge park too.
It is actually a pretty area in between main roads. In Singapore there are many such parks although it is full of other concrete structures.Hope you’ll visit Singapore one day!
