As much as there are camps where you pay before you access their facilities, many free camps will amuse you in Far North Queensland.

Isabella Falls
Isabella Falls is a free bush camp with awesome scenery. You get to enjoy nature fully as you’ll come across a small water crossing. This camp is a great place to swim with the provision of a waterfall on-site. It gives motorbikes, 4WD, and camper trailers access. Campers can enjoy other amenities such as open fire pits, wildlife spotting, swimming, and a dog-friendly environment.
Babinda Rotary Park Rest Area
Close to Pacific Highways, boulders, and town, Babinda Rotary Park Rest Area is a free camp with hot showers, cold showers, and toilets. Due to covid 19 regulations, the camp is limited to just 60 sites, so ensure you book ahead. The camp is accessible to RV/Motorhome, 2WD, and buses. Other amenities the camp offers include swimming, kitchen, wheelchair, playground, drinking water, and lots more. It is a dog-friendly camp managed by Cairns Council, and you can leave a donation if you wish to.
Dulhunty River Falls
The Dulhunty River Falls camp situated along the Dulhunty River is a dog-friendly camp with a large camping space and a fantastic swimming spot. This camp offers a high level of privacy and security with access to only camping trailers, motorbikes, and 4WD. The road to this camp is winding and narrow, and the camp itself does not have many people around. There is no phone service or booking required. Camp and swim between the waterfalls for free at Dulhunty River Falls.
Nolan’s Brook
Nolan’s Brook offers many shades to camp under and chills while in a tranquil environment. Camp here for free and enjoy open fire pits, wildlife spotting, 4WD tracks, fishing, and a dog-friendly environment.
Roonga Point
Situated on the beach, Roonga Point is a free epic campground with self-made fire pits for cold nights and adequate shade to keep your skin from sunburn. The camp is accessible by 4WD, and it provides wildlife spotting, 4WD tracks, fishing, and a dog-friendly environment.
Mutee Head
Mutee Head camp is a free camp with a friendly environment that can accommodate up to six campers and a time. It offers a beachfront camp, gorgeous landscape, fishing, open fire pits, and turtle hatching spot. The road to this camp is a gravel road and is accessible to 4WD and 2WD only in dry seasons. This camp is a dog-friendly camp that you will enjoy.
Nanthau Beach
Nanthau Beach is a free camp set in Far North Queensland with amazing views just for you. It has lots of oysters’ natural habitat. This camp allows high clearance vehicles with options such as hiking tracks, fishing, and a dog-friendly environment.
Somerset Beach Campground
Somerset Beach Campground brings the camping experience to the beach without charging a dime. It accommodates just a few campers, and you can enjoy the abundant wildlife and open fire pits. Somerset Beach Campground is dog-friendly and allows motorbikes, camper trailers, off-road caravans, and 4WD. It provides picnic tables, trash cans, and 4WD tracks.
