Sunset

Sri-Lanka-Hambanthota

It was not planned. I was not expected to watch sunset on our way home from Hambantota. It was the tiresome first days of our recent tour to down south of Sri Lanka. In our each Sri Lanka holidays, we enjoy couple of road trips around Sri Lanka. Most of these trips are to visit family relatives in different areas of the country.

When I arranged another road trip to Kataragama, time was really limited as I had to return to Singapore in few days. So, we planned it for 2 days making it a trip with few stops. On our first day, we travelled till Kataragama and returned back to Colombo at the evening.

We were reaching Hambantota saltern area. The surrounding was spacious and with natural views.

All inside the vehicle were tired. It was so silent inside the vehicle. Suddenly, I found the magical moment. We were in Hambantota, one of the major cities in Southern Sri Lanka. We were passing the Hambantota Saltern (Hambantota Lunu Lewaya).

Sri Lanka : Watching Sunset at Hambantota
We were passing the Hambantota Lunu Lewaya.

The Saltern or Hambantota salt production area is spacious and spreads over a large area of lands making it the best place to watch sunset without many obstacles. I always admire sunset views. If I get a chance to watch sunset, that will make my day forgetting all the tiredness.

While we were enjoying sunset views, we also had a break from our long hour journey. And after all I could capture another collection of sunset views from Sri Lanka making it a memorable road trip.

Finally,we watched the best sunset over the Hambantota Lewaya. The windmills add beauty to the view.

These days I travel with my kid. So,instead of DSLR camera,I always use my phone to capture the moments.Although these are not the best photographs technically,I know these are the best travel memories for the life! 🙂

I love to watch sunset and sunrise. In our recent visit to the East Coast Park Singapore, I was eagerly waiting for watching sunset. I know sunset over the sea is really beautiful. I was dreaming. We were waiting and waiting till our kid start showing signs of tiredness. And finally around 6.30 pm we returned home. We couldn’t watch sunset. 🙁 But I could capture few moments of sky and its changes before the sunset. Hope you like to see these photos.

Kandy Lake - Sri Lanka

Watching sunset can be one of the most exciting moments for anyone who love to travel. It is same with me too. I love to watch sunset and that is great to see how colours of the sky is changing from moment to moment.

Sunset moments are always awesome with wonderful patterns of the clouds. These are the great moments to capture when there is a camera in hand.

In our recent visit to East Coast Park, Singapore, I wanted to capture the sunset. We stayed there till late, but we couldn’t experience the beautiful sunset. It seems we had to wait bit more. But, as our toddler was tired and waiting for sunset could be another disaster if he started crying, we returned back home

Though we missed capturing sunset at the East Coast Park, I have few such moments captured before. That is why I thought of sharing some of the previous captures for today’s post as it is always good to read some of the archived posts.

Spectacular Sunset Moments

This is another beautiful sunset moment I watched in Sri Lanka. It was in 2011 and in a Sri Lanka holiday.

Location: Thalagama Temple

Sky was beautiful and we were on the top of the hilly area. The temple is on a small mountain of the village and we reached the temple in an evening. It was really one of the great sunset moments in my life.

Kandy Lake - Sri Lanka

We were lucky enough to watch sunset over the Kandy Lake when we were returning from the Temple of the tooth Relic. The sky was stunning and amazing with beautiful colours. Actually these sky colours changed fast making beautiful views for all those who were looking at the sky. It was beautiful to see both the sky and the people who were looking at the sky.

Sky was making beautiful paintings with different colours. Truly it was a beautiful sunset. Most of the people around were busy with their cameras. So, it was same with me too.

Kandy Lake - Sri Lanka
Captured these sunset pictures over the Kandy lake during our recent Sri Lanka holiday which we visited Kandy Tooth Relic Temple. Kandy Lake is in front of the Tooth Relic Temple which is one of the major attractions to anyone who visit Kandy, Sri Lanka.

Kandy Lake - Sri Lanka

Kandy Lake which is also known as ‘Bogambara Wawa’ is built in 1807 by the last king of Sri Lanka, Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe. Inside this Lake, there is a small island. If you check clearly, you will see the palm trees in these photos and those are in the small island of the Kandy Lake.
