The Spanish town of Javea is located on the popular northern Costa Blanca. Javea has it all; fantastic weather, historic buildings and a wealth of boutiques, bars and restaurants, so it is little wonder that every year hundreds of people from the more cooler north European countries decide to sell up in their own countries and take advantage of the cheaper properties on sale in the Javea area.

Temperatures range from up to 40 degrees Celsius in the summer and do not drop below 10 degrees Celsius in the winter.

Javea has three main areas – the Old Town (Javea Pueblo), Javea Port (Javea Puerto) and the Arenal Beach Area (Playa de Arenal).

Old Town

Church Square or La Plaza de La Inglesia is the main attraction of Old Town of Javea. Visit the famous 12th century San Bartolome Church, explore the traditional streets and browse the local indoor market.

Javea Port

The distinctly Spanish Javea Port is a big draw for visitors to gather from the early morning to watch local fishermen bring in their daily catch alongside the luxury yachts. Take a stroll along the promenade, watch the sailing boats in the stunning marina and refresh yourself at one of the many bars, open air terraces and restaurants. The port hosts the Moros y Christianos carnival in July which attracts many visitors from far and wide.

Javea Beach

Javea’s blue flag Arenal beach is a pleasant stroll away from Javea Port. The beach is perfect for sheltered relaxation or beach and water sports such as volleyball and scuba diving. Local dive shops cater from beginners through to experts with a range of gear, courses and introductory dives. After the sun sets the local bars become a hive of activity for locals and tourists alike.

Javea-3

The Avenida del Mediterraneo near the harbour has a selection of local artesenia shops and fish restaurants. This area also has opportunities for horse riding and trekking. Families may also be tempted to make the 40 minute journey to the dolphin park.

Other nearby attractions include the towns of Calpe, Gandia and Denia. The cities of Valencia and Alicante are around an hour’s drive away from Javea and offer a good variety of cultural activities.
